Chelsea have confirmed the signing of teenage Anderlecht striker Romelu Lukaku. The 18-year-old joins the Premier League side, after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms with the Stamford Bridge outfit. Lukaku arrived in London today by Eurostar before heading off to Chelsea's training ground in Cobham where he completed formalities ahead of his £20 million move. The teeneager is set to sign a five-year deal with the club and Anderlecht are thought to receieve £13 million up front, with £7 million depending on appearances and achievements.
Hailed as the next Didier Drogba, he will be looking to compete with the likes of Drogba himself, Fernando Torres, Nicolas Anelka and Dean Sturridge for a starting birth. Lukaku will become Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas third signing after signing highly rated goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois from Racing Genk for £9m and Oriol Romeu from Barcelona for £4.3m.
Lukaku become a household name in Belgium during the 2009-10 season when he finished the domestic league as top scorer, aged just 16 years old. Lukaku notched up 16 goals in 37 league appearances last season and has already netted twice in two games in the current campaign. Already established at

Meanwhile, Arsenal have confirmed the signing of the precociously gifted Southampton youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after he underwent a medical at the Gunners training round earlier today. The pacey winger joins after making his breakthrough season last year at the St Mary's Stadium, where he inspired Southampton to promotion from League One to the Championship, scoring 10 goals in 41 league appearances and was voted in the PFA League One Team of the Year. The deal is thought to have cost Arsene Wenger £12 million up front, with £3 million in add-ons.
Arsene Wenger hailed the youngster as a player of rich potential. "We are delighted that Alex has decided to join us," Wenger told the club's official website. "He is an exciting young player who will provide us with creativity and offensive quality. Alex is a versatile player who can play in a number of positions. He can play as an attacking centre midfielder, or wide left and right. Alex is a perceptive passer of the ball and has a great understanding of the game and looks to be a very good team player." Natural comparisons have been made with fellow Arsenal star Theo Walcott, who arrived from the Saints five years-ago.
