While Rafa Benitez may have left for pastures new at Inter Milan, he has left behind some excellent Spanish youngsters by the names of Jesus Fernandez (nicknamed Suso) and Daniel Pacheco. It was Benitez who used his Spanish connections to sign Spanish sensation Jesus Fernandez from under those noses of Barcelona and Real Madrid. The teenage midfielder who has been compared to Cesc Fabregas was snapped by Cadiz at a tender age and excelled at youth level. With excellent vision, dribbling skills and an eye for goal, Suso is the complete package. With Spanish contract rules preventing young players from being tied down on professional terms, Liverpool took full advantage in a similar way to when Arsenal took Fabregas from Barcelona and Manchester United with Gerard Pique. Considered a jewell in Liverpool's academy, there are big expectations on the 17 year-old. He has continued to impress for the reserves and in pre-season has put in a number of eye catching displays. With Liverpool's current financial predicament and the failure to add a number of new faces, many believe Suso will be called up to the first team in the forthcoming season by Roy Hodgson.
Daniel Pachecho is already a first team squad member and will be hoping the 2010/11 season is his breakthrough year after impressing at the 2010 Uefa European Under-19 Football Championships, where he was awarded the Golden boot award after scoring 4 goals. The Spanish strike sensation scored twice in Spain's group match against Portugal, added one in the quarter final match against Italy and also scored early in the semi-final against England. A graduate of the Barcelona's famed La Masia academy, Pacheco enjoyed a reputation as a rising star in the youth ranks and such was ability to score goals from almost any position, his teammates nicknamed El Asesino (The Killer). Liverpool signed the talented striker from Barcelona in 2007, much to the dismay of the Spanish giants.
An intelligent striker, Pacheco has been a regular in the Liverpool reserve team and has been tipped for a big future after catching the eye at Anfield. Compared to Fernando Torres, Pacheco makes up for his lack of height and power, with superb touch, technical ability and clinical finishing. He made his first team debut on 9 December 2009, as a second half substitute for Alberto Aquilani in a Uefa Champions League match against Fiorentina and while he had found first team opportunities hard to come by, he is

expected to feature more heavily this season and on August 10 2010 this was confirmed when he was handed the number 12 shirt, previously worn by Fabio Aurelio. Pacheco has been capped up to U19 level by Spain, scoring a total of 5 goals in 12 appearances.
Toni Silva is another star in the making at Liverpool and was signed as a 16 year-old in October 2009, under the noses of Chelsea from Benfica for a reported fee of £275,000. The Portugese youngster who is of Guinean decent, first west on trial to Chelsea when under the leadership of Scolari. With the Stamford Brige outfit ready to offer him professional terms, problems with Fifa regarding the illegal approach of youngsters, saw Liverpool take full advantage. Since his arrival, Silva has greatly impressed at the Kirkby Academy and at both Under-16 and Under-18 levels. The winger who has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo, has excellent technique and loves taking on the opposition, utilising his silky dribbling skills and bundle of tricks. Strong on the ball and direct with his runs, Silva's height makes him an unorthodox winger and may be deployed in a striking role at some point in the future. With Liverpool lacking width on the flanks over the past several season, it is hoped Toni Silva will make the breakthrough and become a first team regular.
