Wilshere Ready For England

With Fabio Capello looking to build a squad for the future following England's dismal display in South Africa, he will have to look no further than Arsenal duo Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere. Walcott a controversial omision from the World Cup squad and 18 year-old Jack Wilshere have played starring roles in the recent Emirates Cup and are expected to feature in the forthcoming European Championship qualifying campaign. Wilshere was named man of the match after the victory against Celtic to secure a second successive Emirates Cup for the host team. Wilshere has started in all of the five fixtures so far and his impressive performances have led Arsene Wenger to declare he is ready to play for England. It is not the first time, Wilshere has impressed at the Emirates Cup after capturing the attention of England manager Fabio Capello who suggested he was ready to play for his country. While this did not happen, Wilshere went on to become a regular for the England Under-21 side. However, after spending time on loan to Bolton Wanderers last season, Wenger believes the creative midfielder is ready to play more regularly at Arsenal. "At 18 years of age you can have patience with a player, but I believe Wilshere is stronger than last year," Wenger said. "The few months he played at Bolton has definitely given him something. He will be used by us for sure." Wenger believes Wilshere's loan has made him stronger than last year and he is now able to cope with the physical requirements of the Premier League. But Wenger added: "The problems at that age is to be patient, you don't have patience. If you look at the number of good

players we have in midfield, nobody can guarantee a position to anybody." Wilshere who has been described as one of England's greatest prospects has already been likened to Gazza, while some insiders in the club have compared him to the legendary Liam Brady. Wilshere made history when he became the youngest player ever to represent Arsenal in European competition when he came off the bench against Dynamo Kyiv in November 2008, aged 16 years of age.

Wilshere will be looking to gain more experience in the forthcoming season and seek more first team opportunities at the Emirates. The England Under-21 star has all the attributes needed to become a regular at Arsenal and his performances in the Emirates Cup will have left fans excited. After an encouraging display in the 1-1 draw with AC Milan, Wilshere put in an outstanding display against Celtic, showing a level of control and composure beyond his years. With Celtic's own midfielders struggling to contain him, the teenage was at the centre of everything positive. With just three minutes gone, Wilshere instigated the opening goal as he carried the ball forward before an exquisite pass out to Theo Walcott who took a touch before laying on a cross to Carlos Vela to score. Wilshere's best moment came with a sublime volley from the edge of the area after 34 minutes which crashed against the crossbar, leaving Zaluska stranded between the posts. While it may be easy to get carried with the brilliance of Wilshere, some will be looking at him as a natural successor to Cesc Fabregas should he decided to leave for the Nou Camp. Although slight in build, Wilshere showed tenacity at the Emirates Cup and was not afraid to put his foot in. Naturally left-footed, England fans will be hoping Capello wields the axe with some of the old guard to give the stars of tomorow a chance to shine.
